Senior Control Systems Engineer

Role Title:Senior Control Systems Engineer
Reporting To:Chief Engineer – Control Systems  
Location:Head Office at Birmingham Business Park.

Role Purpose:As a member of the Control Systems team, you will be involved in the development of application software for Sprint Power BMS and DCDC products, from requirements capture to vehicle integration and test. You will take an active part in the delivery of one of our main projects, interfacing directly with the client, and supporting the development both at the Sprint Power facilities and different client locations, including overseas.

Key Aspects of the role:

  • Design, implement and test application software using a model-based development approach.
  • Support prototype vehicle builds, calibration and development at Sprint Power and client sites.
  • Diagnose issues with Sprint Power products and be able to identify integration issues with other products in the vehicle.
  • Report progress and status to project teams at Sprint Power and client.
  • Represent the wider Software Group and Sprint Power team in front of the customer.

Qualifications, Functional Experience & Skills

  • A degree or similar in a software or controls engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in automotive control systems, especially in BMS and DCDC applications.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis experience in complex automotive battery systems.
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic circuits.
  • Comfortable working closely with clients, often on-site at client locations.
  • Experienced advanced user of:
    • MATLAB/Simulink toolchain.
    • CAN based calibration and monitoring tools like CANape/INCA and CANalyzer.
    • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in:
    • The interaction between application and base software.
    • The use of software debugging tools.
  • Understanding of:
    • C# programming language.

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • This role is based at our Head Office at Birmingham Business Park, 0900 to 1700, including 30-minute paid break 5 days a week.
  • Travel frequently.
