Senior Operations Engineer

Role Title:Senior Operations Engineer
Reporting To:Engineering Operations Manager
Location:Head Office at Birmingham Business Park.

Role Purpose:Develop and operate the engineering workshops and facilities in support of engineering projects and production operation. To ensure operational measures are understood, cascaded and conducted, to all SHE, 5S business operational requirements. Continuous improvement of safe operating practice delivered to a regulatory compliance in support of business objectives. Control of asset and operational consumables.

Role Attributes:

  • Support e-mobility projects and production demands, meet timings and to specifications.
  • Develop test facility capability in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand operational requirements and support gap analysis and resolution.
  • Maintain test facility operating standards to meet legislative and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the facilities workshops operate in a safe and compliant manner, ensuring all activities have appropriate equipment, and instruction of facility function.
  • Maintain good housekeeping 5S methodology across site operations.
  • Control of facility maintenance requirements.
  • Support Health and Safety process implementation.
  • Develop and maintain contracts for test apparatus and specialist equipment.
  • Liaise with contractors and develop appropriate relationships.

Technical summary:

  • Broad understanding of automotive architecture and experience relating to prototype build, validation and durability testing.
  • A good understanding of 5S process and compliance to defined operation process.
  • Efficient control and reporting of project issue status.

Health, Safety & Environmental:

  • Support the application of Environmental Health and Safety policies with business facilities.
  • Responsible for adhering to EHS procedures and policies to ensure compliance.

Qualifications, Functional Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Facility development experienced.
  • EV Facility and commodity experience.
  • Issue management and reporting.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication, assertive skills.
  • Good 5s methodology discipline.

 Other Features of job:

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • This role is based at our Head Office at Birmingham Business Park, 0900 to 1700, including 30-minute paid break 5 days a week. 
  • Travel occasionally as required.
