Senior Project Manager

Role Title: Senior Project Manager
Reporting To: Operations Director
Role Purpose: As a Project Manager within Sprint Power, you will Project Manage engineering services consultancy projects and internal product development programmes. You will liaise directly with Customers, and the SP engineering teams, to ensure resource is prioritized and projects meet the technical compliance and keep within project time scale and budget. Working closely with the project technical lead and engineering teams from concept through to project closure.  Ensure PMO department process and business systems are followed in line with project resource, timing and finance management.

Key Aspects of the role

      • Project Manager for engineering consultancy projects.
      • Project Manager for product development projects to ensure they follow the SP NPI process.
      • Financial control and reporting from concept to project closure.
      • Creating and developing project timing plans.
      • Manage content of APQP / PPAP related projects.
      • Manage resources in tandem with internal business function to deliver Projects on time.
      • Control, track and report projects status through the Project life.
      • Ensuring the Customer requirements and project scope are aligned throughout project lifecycle.
      • Ensure BoM structure and content are aligned to product definition.
      • Build and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers.
      • Maximise the commercial potential of each customer Project, ensuring the business case is strong through the product-development process.
      • Management of PMO Direct reports.

 

Technical summary

      • To have an excellent understanding of automotive engineering design practices covering:
        • Systems Engineering including Verification and Validation.
        • Electrical EDS Design, Electrical Integration and Power Electronics.
        • Controls software development.
        • Mechanical Design integration.
        • Manufacturing and Quality Engineering experience.
      • To have a basic knowledge of Low Carbon Electric and Hybrid Vehicle technologies including:
        • Function of vehicle HV batteries, PDU’s, inverters, motors and chargers.
        • Vehicle powertrain systems, heating and cooling systems.
        • Electrical Integration for HV and LV systems.

 

Health, Safety & Environmental

      • Ensures Environmental Health & Safety policy is always adhered to.
      • Promotes Environmental Health & Safety awareness.
      • Responsible for adhering to EHS procedures & policies to ensure compliance.

 

Qualifications, Functional Experience & Skills

      • A degree or similar in engineering or equivalent in project management.
      • A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience.
      • Automotive OEM/Tier 1 Project Management experience is preferred.
      • Experience of Full Vehicle Programme management.
      • Manage project timing and gateway plans you must be able to present detailed costing timing plans to agreed deadlines.
      • Line management of direct reports.
      • Detailed knowledge of APQP / PPAP processes including construction of supporting documents.
      • Prince2 or APM Practitioner is preferable.
      • Experience of EV or Powertrain projects is preferable.
      • Procurement and Supply Chain development.

 

System or Knowledge

      • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office and applications.
      • Advanced MS Project experience.
      • Resource Management tools.
      • Previous experience of Business Management procedures implementation including ISO9001.
      • Functional Safety knowledge.
